Gmail can finally convert addresses into actionable links

Google has announced a new update for Gmail on Android, iOS and the web that’s set to bring a useful new feature to the service: auto-linking of addresses and contact information.

The way it works is simple. When you receive an email containing an address, for example, tapping it will automatically open the location in Google Maps—or a third-party offering, if you prefer.

Big G says the server-side upgrade started making the rounds on Monday and can take up to three days to arrive, so it should reach your Gmail account by Thursday, September 21.
