Did you know that it’s possible to add a dedicated number row to Gboard? Probably not, because the option to activate it is tucked away in the keyboard’s companion application. Once you know where to find it, though, it’s super easy to enable.
Slow down! What’s Gboard?
For those unaware, Gboard is Google’s own keyboard. It’s available for both Android and iOS, and features a slew of useful features, including Google Search, Glide Typing and Voice Dictation.
Here’s it in action:
Right, so how do I add a dedicated number row?
- Open up the Gboard application.
- Tap Preferences.
- Locate Number Row.
- Slide the toggle to On.
Wait! I can’t find Gboard in the app drawer…
Don’t panic. On some smartphones, Gboard is automatically hidden from the app drawer — but fortunately, there’s another way to access it, and it only takes a few seconds.
- Navigate into Settings.
- Find and select Language and Input.
- Press Gboard.
- Hit Preferences.
- Flick the Number Row switch to On.
